Someone has apparently decided that the best way to run a trademark scam is to impersonate me.

It’s mildly flattering that someone thinks I’m famous for IP law but I can do without this form of flattery.

Here is what you need to know:

A fraudulent operation is sending emails using my name: david.wotherspoon @ tradesmarkly dot ca, telling businesses they must pay immediately or lose their trademark rights. To be absolutely clear: I have no connection whatsoever to tradesmarkly dot ca. These emails are not authorized, endorsed, or affiliated with me or with Wotherspoon Law in any way.

The scammers have also stolen the entire website of my friend Bonnie D. Headley of GreenspaceĀ® Trademark Services,Ā  a respected registered trademark agent, and are passing her work off as their own. It is brazen copyright infringement. If you or a client has received one of these emails, please do not pay anything, do not provide personal information, and feel free to reach out to me directly.
